Judging Criteria

Part 2 Judging Criteria  

Adjudicators shall give marks to individual debaters in accordance with the following criteria and weighting.

(1) Speeches by Captain, First Speaker and Second Speaker
(2) Captain Summary
A. Content (40 points)
1. Quality of argument
2. Depth and breadth of ideas
3. Relevance of arguments to the motion
4. Originality
5. Depth of rebuttal
C. Organisation (20 points)
1. Development of arguments
2. Logical sequence of points
3. Precise and concise in wordings
B. Delivery (30 points)
1. Use of English language in arguments
2. Level of fluency
3. Strong articulation
4. Persuasiveness
D. Poise (10 points)
1. Gestures and posture that reinforce presentation
2. Confidence and presence
3. Eye contact

(3) Interrogative Debating session

Adjudicators shall give the vote to the team with higher score and the team with the most votes will be the winning team.

Best Debater
The individual with the highest average score will be awarded as the "Best Debater". If more than one debater gain the same score, final voting will be held among the adjudicators.

Best Interrogative Debater
The individual with the highest average score in the Interrogative Debating session will be awarded as the "Best Interrogative Debater". If more than one debater gain the same score, final voting will be held among the adjudicators.
